Thousand Islands is an archipelago located in the north of Jakarta which deal with the Jakarta bay and overlooking the Java Sea.
Transportation to these places is not difficult. The usual tourist tours depart from the pier Marina beach, Ancol with a rented speedboat. The time taken from the pier Marina beach Ancol to the islands that became a tourist destination about 25 minutes to about 2 hours, depending on distance, weather conditions, and speed boats are used.
In general departure of the vessel from the Marina Ancol beach to the resort islands in the morning around 08:00 or 09:00 and return to Marina Ancol Beach in 14:00.
Although it's called the Thousand Islands in it does not mean there are islands, amounting to one thousand and not all inhabited islands.
With an area of about 107,489 ha, the number of islands is only about 342 islands, including the islands of sand and coral reefs are vegetated or not. As for the island of sand and coral reefs themselves number around 158 islands.
Thousand Islands Marine National Park which is managed by the Hall of the Thousand Islands Marine National Park, Department of Forestry.
Thousand Islands has designated the island as an island nature reserves such as Hair Island and Onrust island designated as cultural heritage.
If the farther island your holiday destination from Jakarta Bay, it will also look more clean beaches and sea beyond.
