Yogyakarta-city a million tourist

Yogyakarta, together with its twin city Surakarta (Solo), is the cradle of civilization on Java. This city was the seat of power that produced the magnificent temples of Borobudur and Prambanan in the 8th and 9th century and the new powerful Mataram kingdom of the 16th and 17th century. Until today this city continues to produce philosophers, thinkers, master painters and master craftsmen.

Whilst steeped in rich tradition and history, Yogyakarta, lovingly known as Yogya, continues to remain young. This is university town, where students from all over Indonesia from different ethnic backgrounds flock to pursue knowledge and wisdom. For this reason, Yogya is both very Javanese and at the same time a melting pot of different Indonesian cultures.  

Yogyakarta (or Jogjakarta) is known as Neverending Asia for its endless attractions and appeal. As one of Indonesia’s 32 provinces, this city is one of the foremost cultural centers of Indonesia. From climbing the magnificent Borobudur temple to watching silversmiths produce amazing jewelry to shopping up a storm at Malioboro road, you’ll never be bored in this small yet bustling city.

Yogya is a city of history. In the 18th. and 19th centuries, it was the seat of the re-emerged Mataram kingdom. Today many of the Mataram traditions live on and are a part of the city’s daily life. Yogya is a place to come to connect with the centuries’ old traditions, culture and the history of Java as well as bask in the friendliness of the local people. It is a place with a unique charm which seldom fails to captivate visitors.


From natural wonders, local art and traditions, examples of Javanese heritage to delicious culinary delights, Yogya is a city with numerous attractions. This is why Yogya is the second most visited destination in Indonesia after Bali.

Ria Teleng Beach With The Cool Air

Beach Teleng Ria is land that juts into the ocean or so-called bay. The beach flanked by two plateau which is part of the limestone mountains stretching from southern Gunung Kidul to Terri, facing the Indonesian Ocean. Although the beach is illuminated by a blazing sun, but the air still feels like a cool mountain breeze.

Indonesian Tourism "Tourism Sector, a Mainstay Yogyakarta"

The tourism sector is still the mainstay of Yogyakarta Special Region, in addition to educational and cultural sector. It was announced by Head of the Provincial Tourism Office of Yogyakarta, Tazbir.

Upon receiving the visit of some members of the Commission C Nias Regency, North Sumatra, in his office Jalan Malioboro, Yogyakarta, on Tuesday (04/12/2011), Tazbir said DIY territory which is not extensive and poor natural resources, position the tourism sector as the mainstay , in addition to educational and cultural sector.

Indonesian Tourism "Yogyakarta incentive Promotion Tourist Attraction"

Potential tourist attraction of Mount Merapi in Yogyakarta pascaerupsi again held a promotional tour in several cities in Indonesia, including the city of Makassar. Head of Tourism and Culture of Yogyakarta, Yulia Rustiyaningsih during a visit in Makassar on Wednesday (09/03/2011) said the level of tourists visit pascaerupsi Mount Merapi is not too anjok and still in good condition.

Dominate the domestic tourists who visit the area is still large enough to contribute to expenditure of tourists in their area. "We estimate that shopping souvenirs, crafts to culinary range from USD 800 thousand to Rp 1.2 million per tourist," he said.

Indonesian Tourism "Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat"

Ngayogyakarta Kraton or Sultan Palace is a palace of the Sultanate of Ngayogyakarta official who is now located in the city of Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Although the empire was officially has become part of the Republic of Indonesia in 1950, this palace building complex still serves as a residence sultan and his court of households who are still running the imperial tradition until today. Palace is now also one tourist attraction in the city of Yogyakarta. Part of the palace complex is a museum that holds various collections belonging to the empire, including a variety of gifts from the kings of Europe, a replica of heritage palace, and gamelan. In terms of the building, the palace is one example of Javanese palace architecture of the best, has sumptuous hall and court-hall and a spacious pavilion.

Sultan Palace began to be established by Sultan Hamengkubuwono first few months post Giyanti Agreement in 1755. The location of this palace is the former a pesanggarahan reputedly named Garjitawati. Guesthouse was used to break the funeral procession of the kings of Mataram (Kartasura and Surakarta) to be buried in Imogiri. Another version mentions the location of the palace is a spring, Pacethokan Bannerman, who is in the middle Beringan forest. Prior to occupy the Palace of Yogyakarta, Sultan Hamengkubuwono I stayed at Guesthouse Amber Ketawang which now includes the District Gamping Sleman.
