Creative Ideas For Graduation Trips

As your school career draws to an end and you find yourself planning your high school or college graduation celebrations, you might decide you need to celebrate in a big way. A lot of people do this by planning a travel excursion. Following graduation, you may have a few weeks or months before your next life phase begins. If you are graduating from high school, you will not head off to college until the end of the summer. If you have graduated from college, you will hopefully be starting a job, but you may have planned a couple of weeks between graduation and your start date to give yourself a break.

This is a wonderful time to plan a trip of some kind. There will be no other time in your life when you will have the freedom and sense of adventure you have following graduation, so you might as well take advantage of this and plan a once in a lifetime trip. A lot of people head for the beach and if you are a fan of water adventures, you might enjoy a kayak fishing excursion. Pack up your kayak fishing accessories and head for the great outdoors.

If you are more the indoor type and your idea of a sporting event or adventure is the retail variety, plan a shopping trip. For non-shoppers, this may sound crazy, but if you love roaming malls and outlets in search of a great deal, shopping vacations are like heaven. Instead of just heading to your local mall, travel to a destination known for its shopping. You can hit New York City, Las Vegas or the Mall of America in Minneapolis.

European travel often takes longer than an average week-long vacation, so if you hope to see the European countryside in your lifetime, this might be the time to do it. You can take a few weeks and visit all of the countries you hope to see by train. You are also young enough to enjoy staying in hostels, saving you a great deal of money during your travels. As you age, your patience and tastes will change, but when you are young, you are flexible and willing to give up creature comforts to enjoy the experience. Now is the time to plan a budget-friendly European excursion.

Some people prefer to satisfy their own desire to celebrate, but also feel like they are doing some good in the world. You can design a trip based on charity. This is especially true if you are graduating from college and you have special skills that can help the community. There are many doctors who are on their way to working in a hospital or private practice, but they take a few months to work in underdeveloped nations, lending their medical knowledge to those who need it most. You do not have to have special training to give back. Look for ways to volunteer your time and efforts in areas of the world that need you most.

Finally, consider planning a trip based on something you love. If you have a favorite book or movie, you can plan a trip around the theme. If there is no theme that is suitable for traveling, plan a trip to the hometown of the author to see where they drew their inspiration.
