Most people don't know this, but the Jackson Hole Airport is the only airport located inside a national park with regular airline service! I have flown there many times over the last 25 years and have enjoyed every landing, every scene and every activity.
Grand Teton National Park is located about 4 miles north of the town of Jackson, Wyoming. If the pioneers of the 1850's had seen this area first they may never have made Oregon or Salt Lake City.
The Grand Teton towers above all mountain peaks in the area. It reaches an altitude of 13,780' above sea level and is known as the "youngest" mountain in the Rockies. Rising over a vertical mile from the valley floor and standing as sentinel beside the famous Snake River, this area is home to "America's Serengeti."
Very few areas in North America are more environmentally protected with 97% of all land area in Teton County being under either federal control or under the control of private conservation organizations.
